KADHA Films : Philosophy
KADHA—meaning "story" in Malayalam—was founded in 2022 to champion independent cinema that bridges cultural specificity with universal human truths.
In an era where streaming platforms hunger for authentic voices yet often overlook them, we seek out distinctive, character-driven narratives from filmmakers who exist outside traditional industry centers. We are particularly drawn to stories from marginalized communities: the elderly navigating modern isolation, LGBTQ+ individuals fighting for familial acceptance, immigrants caught between worlds, and others whose experiences rarely command the screen.
We believe the most powerful films are both intimate and expansive—rooted in a specific place, culture, or language, yet speaking to emotions that transcend borders. Our commitment is to low-budget, high-impact cinema that challenges conventional storytelling while remaining deeply accessible.
